10 Steps to Weight Loss Diet Plan That Works

1) You need to set a goal of how much body fat you want to lose and please be realistic. Men and women require a different caloric intake. A safe plan is to eat 300 to 500 fewer calories a day to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. Set a goal for yourself and get real about achieving it. You goal need to be specific and written down. 2) Begin exercising now, it’s really not hard. Here’s a big tip…tell yourself you are just going for a nice nature walk. You don’t have to pump iron at the gym or run marathons. Do whatever you enjoy, whether it’s taking long walks, gardening, or playing Frisbee. Cardiovascular exercise will increases your metabolic rate so that the rest of the day you will burn off more calories.

3) Eat In Moderation. Many of use eat too much of even lowfat foods. Most Fast Food Restaurant amounts are way to large for just one person. Make sure you eat Breakfast, this gets you started for the day. Some people find that measuring food for a week or two helps them learn healthy portion sizes. Your stomack is not much larger than your hand so your intake should be approximately that size.

4) Eat 5-6 small meals a day. This technique will increase your metabolism and energy levels. It will also curb that hungry feeling which leads to cheating. This technique will train you body to stay in a constant food burning mode with a steady, but not overabundant flow of nutrients. But look at point 7)

5) Eat Less Sugar and Carbs. Learn to prepare healthful, low-calorie foods that taste good by checking healthy cook books for new recipes. Eating well doesn’t have to mean eating dull. Will find that over the days and weeks your craving for sugary and fatty food will decrease and you will desire higher quality food.

6) Drink lots of water and as often as you can. Water is used in every single cell of your body. Water will help you increase your energy and help make your stomach feel more full. Make sure you drink 3-4 big glasses of water per day. Keep a bottle wherever you spend most of your day, at your desk at work, in your car, etc. Remember whilst exercising especially when wearing the sweat suit to drink plenty of fluids.

7) Don’t Eat After 6 PM. If possible, try not to eat in the hours before turning in for the night. Most people are not as active after their evening meal as they are earlier in the day. It is best to keep the total calorie level, as well as carbohydrate level, lower in your later meals. This will prevent extra fat storage that would occur as we sleep.

8) Cut down on soda and other sugary drinks. Soft drinks provide a lot of hidden calories without making you feel full. For every cup of soda you replace with water, you’ll reduce your caloric intake by about 100 calories.

9) It’s very important to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Nearly every major health organization makes this simple suggestion, since most fruits and veggies are nutritious and naturally low in fat and calories.

10) Learn to control your stress. Most people say that they eat more when they are stressed out. Simple solution, learn to control your stress by doing your exercises, going for a walk or talking to a friend. Remember, as with any change you try to achieve, it’s a mind game. Get you mind off of food and onto a healthy life.

Popcorn

As long as you don’t saturate it in butter and/or salt (a.k.a. movie theatre popcorn) this is a very healthy snack. It's very high in fiber and low in calories. The best kind to eat is the air popped but if you’re going to pop it on the stove make sure you use oils with monosaturated fats like canola or olive oil. Be careful with microwave popcorn. Almonds and Other Nuts

Beef Jerky

Just remember to buy your jerky at a health food store. The kind you see in regular grocery stores are generally high in sodium.

Low Fat Yogurt

An 8-ounce cup of yogurt generally contains 2-3 grams of fat and around 150 calories. This is a much better snack food option than something like ice cream. A recent study showed people that consumed three servings of light yogurt daily as part of a reduced-calorie diet lost about 20 percent more weight than those who only cut calories. Some recipes will even call for low fat yogurt to replace sour cream.

Alternatively, you could also have a good supply of apples or other fruit handy or a low-fat cereal bar for when you feel peckish. It is not too difficult to lose weight without starving yourself.

Weight Loss Meal Plan for Those on the Go

Here is a nice weight loss meal plan for those on the go who can’t plan a meal or anyone that has to leave home for a day or two at a time but still needs to eat healthy.

I am in outside sales so it is sometimes hard to plan my meals when I am going to be away from home for a day or two. I don’t want to bring a million things from home or have to eat out. Ideally it would be great if I could bring a few things from home and pick up a few things from a local convenience store when I’m out. After many months of doing this effectively here is a weight loss plan you can follow when traveling.

This is based on a 1400 calorie day which is what my goal was when I was away from home, driving, and not very active.

Breakfast: 300 calories Lunch: 500 Calories Evening snack: 100 calories Dinner: 500 Calories

Breakfast: Since you are usually on the road in the morning I did not have time to sit around and cook or waste time. This is why I went with a bagel in the morning. You can pick it up on the way out or bring a few from home. I do put crème cheese on it but VERY light.

For lunch I usually have a little more time and can stop at subway or even make a sandwich of my own. Personally I usually stop at subway. Stick to the basic sandwiches. I go for a turkey breast with wheat bread. No mayo but I do use mustard and all the veggies. The foot long is 600 calories and although its 100 cal more than what I planned for lunch its ok.

Snack: I usually go for an apple or other vegetables. I want something that is good for me yet will fill me up. An apple is actually exactly 100 calories.

For dinner I can sometimes stop by a restaurant for my 500 calories and still eat something healthy. If you can find a restaurant that will bake you a fish and you add some broccoli with light butter it is the perfect finisher.

You can eat to your heart’s satisfaction and still lose weight, provided that you plan your meals ahead and keep the calorie restrictions in mind!
